On October 12, internationally acclaimed writer and New Yorker essayist Adam Gopnik arrives in Montreal to deliver his lecture on the most Canadian of subjects – winter.
In conjunction with the CBC Massey Lectures, Gopnik will be delivering his lectures based on his new book Winter: Five Windows on the Season, a meditation on winter’s five characters: romantic, radical, recuperative, recreational, and remembering. From winter’s romantic German landscape to the 19th century snowflake photographer, Wilson Bentley, to the science of ice, Gopnik weaves together a narrative that presents the coldest of seasons in a new, magical light.
Adam Gopnik’s five-city Massey Lecture series begins in Montreal on Oct. 12, and continues to Halifax (Oct. 14), Edmonton (Oct. 21), Vancouver (Oct. 23), and Toronto (Oct. 26). For more information, visit the CBC.
